MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SELECTMEN'S MEETING

 

TOWN OF FRYE ISLAND

DECEMBER 22, 2004

 

The location of the meeting was the winter office, Windham, ME

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:07 PM by James Kuiken

Selectmen:  James Kuiken, Bob Roberts

BIT:  Grace Morin, Jim O'Connor, Bruce Nisula

Town Manager:  Wayne Fournier
 

Roger Gagnon from Gagnon Engineering, Inc. was also present.

Three bids were received for repairs to the ferry landings, they were as follows:

     1.  Bancroft Contracting Corporation            $ 68,850.00          $ 115,450.00

 

     2.  Zachau Construction, Inc.                           78,800.00             138,800.00

 

     3.  Cianbro                                                    109,430.00            170,180.00

 

 

Roger Gagnon stated that Bancroft Contracting Corporation did a bridge in Gorham, ME and the work was satisfactorily completed. 

 

Roger Gagnon suggested to award the entire contract, Base Bid and Alternate, at the present time.

 

Roger Gagnon was asked to oversee the project as it progressed.

 

Roger Gagnon stated that he would oversee the project for $3,000.00.

 

Wayne Fournier stated that there was approximately $153,000.00 in the Ferry Reserve Account.

 

MOTION to expend up to $120,000.00 from the Ferry Reserve Account to repair the ferry landings with the work on the island landing to begin no later than November 20, 2005 made by James Kuiken and seconded by Bob Roberts - Unanimous

 

Wayne to contact Bancroft Contracting Corporation on December 23, 2004 to notify them to begin work, that no Frye Island equipment will be used to perform any of the work, and to work up a credit for deleting temporary heat on the island landing, substantial completion for the mainland landing is March 31, 2005, and that liquidated damages of $300.00 per calendar day would be assessed beginning April 1, 2005.
