MINUTES OF THE SELECTMEN'S MEETING

TOWN OF FRYE ISLAND

AUGUST 10, 2002

 

The location of the meeting was the Community Center, Town of Frye Island

 

The meeting was called to order at 2:05 PM by James Kuiken

 

Selectmen:  James L. Kuiken, John Crosby

BIT:  Pat Karpacz, Dave Decker, Grace Morin, Dick Giggey

Interim Town Manager:  Joe Potts

Treasurer:  Carl Hommel

 

Signed Check Warrant

 

Motion to accept minutes of the August 4, 2002 Selectmen's Meeting made by James Kuiken and seconded by John Crosby - Unanimous

 

Financials:

 

     1.  Joe Potts stated that QuickBooks will provide all the necessary management reports

          needed for financial reports

 

     2.  Trios was  off line for three (3) to four (4) days - Joe Potts will go to  Bangor on

           Tuesday, August 13, 2002 for Trios Training

         

Ferry Haul Out System

 

     1.  Kleinschmidt's redesign of the Ferry Haul Out System shortened the length and

          decreased the height to 11-12 feet

 

Motion to give Kleinschmidt the go ahead with new design as submitted made by James

Kuiken and seconded by John Crosby - Unanimous

 

Soil Test Fees:

 

     Motion  to retain the Town of Frye Island's fee of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars

     for Soil Test whether the Soil Test is provided by the Town or Private Party

     made by John Crosby and seconded by James Kuiken - Unanimous

 

Ferry System Update:

 

     1.  No Parking signs are installed on mainland - towing signs are to be installed

          and towing will begin

 

     2.  New storage locker has been installed - a second locker is on order to store

          the remaining material

 

     3.  Mil Foil handouts are being given to people who arrive at the Ferry Landing with boats

 

     4.  Security System in the trailer will be installed this coming week

 

     5.  Bilge cleanings are being accomplished

 

      6.  PFD markings are installed on each boat - 40 Adult - 5 Child

 

Motion to change the number of PFDs to thirty five (35) Adult, five (5) Child under 40 pounds, and five (5) Child 40-80 pounds made by James Kuiken and seconded by John Crosby - Unanimous

 

     7.  Plan for Ad Hoc second boat established - when two (2) ferry captains are on

          duty call Norm Dignard first and Joe Potts (after mate training) second

 

     8.  Remain status quo for remainder of season with twenty minute schedule - need

          Ferry Policy Handbook updated over the winter

Meeting with Kim Russell - August 16, 2002

 

Security:

 

     1.  Discussion on Security - Present a separate Article on the Town Warrant for extra security measures
