Subject: Speed Zoning - Town Ways - Frye Island
Subject to your approval, the following ITEM is submitted for the Commissioner's Record:
ITEM:
The Director of Maintenance and Operations concurred with a recommendation by the Engineer of Traffic that the following speed zoning be adopted for five town ways in the town of Frye Island.
ADOPT:
Birch Road
20 MPH starting at the junction of Ridge Road and High Point Drive and extending westerly and then northerly to the second junction of Leisure Lane, a total distance of 1.04 miles.
High Point Road
20 MPH starting at the junction of Sunset Road and extending southerly to the junction of Birch Road and Ridge Road, a total distance of 1.23 miles.
Independence Way
20 MPH starting at the junction Ridge Road and White Way and extending southwesterly to the junction of High Point Drive, a total distance of 0.68 miles.
Leisure Lane
20 MPH starting at the junction of Sunset Road and extending northwesterly and then southerly to the junction of Birch Road, a total distance of 3.20 miles

Middle Beach Road
20 MPH starting at the junction of Independence Way and extending westerly to the junction of Leisure Lane, a total distance of 0.30 miles.

COMMENTS:
A review of these roads was requested by the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Frye Island. The above roads have not been previously reviewed by Maine D.O.T. The recommended speeds are based upon road width, site distance and test run. In consideration of the traffic datat above speeds are recommended for the listed roads.

Ridge Road
20 MPH starting at the junction of Birch Road and High Point Drive and extending southeasterly and then northerly to the junction of Independence Way and White Way, a total distance of 2.10 miles.
Sunset Road
20 MPH starting at the Ferry Landing Boat Ramp and extending westerly to the junction of Leisure Lane, a total distance of 0.60 miles.
Timber Road
20 MPH starting at the junction of Leisure Lane and extending westerly to the westerly junction of Leisure Lane and Timber Road, a total distance of 0.20 miles.
White Way
20 MPH starting at the junction of Ridge Road and Independence Way and extending northerly to 'the junction of Sunset Road, a total distance of 0.05 miles.
